Multifunctional Complex in TsalenjikhaTsalenjikha, GE2026

We are excited to present our design for a typical multifunctional complex for 250 spectators in Tsalenjikha, set in the valley of the Chanistskali river. The model is conceived as a universal prototype: its independent wings allow the concept to adapt easily to plots of different geometry and scale, and in other regions it can blend into any new context simply by changing the facade materials and colour palette.

The complex brings together three programmes. The sports block includes a multipurpose hall with a retractable tribune, training and children's swimming pools, and halls for judo, wrestling, boxing, MMA, gymnastics, weightlifting and table tennis. The cultural and educational centre provides a library and media room, spaces for choreography, art, folklore and foreign languages, a STEM club and an events hall, while the grounds host football and rugby pitches.

The form is drawn from the landscape: the monumental, mountainous character of the region is expressed in the building's compact rectangular envelope, while the flow of the Chanistskali is echoed in the open, barrier-free circulation and in the water mirrors of the inner courtyard. Volumes of different heights are gathered under a single roof that slopes towards the courtyard.

The central courtyard is the social and visual heart of the complex, distributing the flows of spectators, swimmers, athletes and visitors to the cultural wing, while each block keeps its own entrance. Educational spaces sit on the upper level (+5.50), shielded from the noise of the sports areas. Fibre-cement panels, corrugated and perforated metal screens and terracotta paving give the building a contemporary yet warm character.
